CPR Training application for your iPhone gives rate and depth feedback to give the most effective training.
Context
Zoll and BCA have collaborated on several products. In this case, Zoll wanted to create an application using the algorithm from their PocketCPR handheld training device. BCA used the accelerometers embedded in the iPhone to create the application to train individuals in the use of CPR.
Solution
iPhone development is not the same as the embedded ‘C’ code that the original project was developed in. We first had to port the code to Objective C, the iPhone development language. Then we worked with our client to develop a graphical interface for this product. The original product only had LEDs and sound. The iPhone app included an initial training. In the end the product is being sold on the iTunes store. It was downloaded 17,000 times in the first week on iTunes.
