Developed stand-alone and portable automated test stations to increase productivity.
Context
A large product vendor employs a manufacturing strategy which initially leverages an on-shore contract manufacturer (CM) with planned transition to an off-shore CM once sufficient volume is reached. Due to this strategy, this customer required BCA to develop a series of stand-alone and portable test fixtures to functionally test their various PWB assemblies.
Solution
BCA partnered with a vendor of a customization family of stand-alone bed-of-nail mechanical fixtures to design and document the required test fixtures. BCA utilized the UUT PWB assemblies existing test points to define the necessary bed-of-nail contact points and wiring in support of the developed test plan. The internal hardware electronics was a combination of off the shelf digital/analog test electronics, commercial JTAG programmers, power supplies, and custom electronics. National Instruments Test Stand was used to develop the overall test sequence, control, and reporting. BCA was also responsible for the development of all missing lower level drivers. Test Stand provided the customer an easy to read graphical interface with automatic pass/fail reporting and generation.
