Designed software to support Voice Option Module.

Context

As part of its on-going support for this customer, BCA provided sustaining support for their custom DSP Voice/Fax processing firmware which was executed on .I C549 DSPs.

In order to increase their voice channel density and reduce their cost per voice port for their digital interfaces, the customer was interested in outsourcing the porting of this firmware system to the T.I C5441 DSP, a four core device. The client was also looking to minimize the company’s resource involvement in this project. This task was made more difficult by TI’s withdrawal of software support for the original base firmware which was initially customized by the company.

Solution

BCA provided the following services to the company:

• Voice protocol software/DSP Firmware architectural review
• Voice DSP firmware port (C5441) and enhancement
• Host processor digital voice driver enhancement to support C5441 host port architecture
• Performance tuning of the resulting system
• Digital T1/E1 voice software integration testing
• Acceptance testing support
